Our Reviews

Take a look at what our guests say...

I’d love to share with you some of the wonderful reviews our guests have said about their stays at Tyddyn Sydney Bach. It makes me so happy to read each review and see how much our little cottage has been a part of so many special memories.

Many of our guest reviews mention how Tyddyn Sydney Bach is a cosy and relaxing haven, perfect for a peaceful holiday for two. William and I always aim to keep the cottage spotlessly clean and well-equipped, so it feels like a home away from home. And, of course, the lovely garden adds to the charm!

Our location here near Bangor, just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Menai Strait, is something many of our guests appreciate. Guest reviews reveal that our guests love being close to the mountains, the sea, and all the historical sites that North Wales and Anglesey have to offer. It's always a pleasure to suggest places to visit and dine – there's so much to explore around here!

What truly warms my heart is when guests come back to visit us again. Some even call Tyddyn Sydney Bach their 'happy place', which is the most wonderful compliment. It feels like welcoming old friends each time they return.

Our reviews shown below are a treasure trove of kind words and memories. From couples celebrating anniversaries to those simply seeking a tranquil getaway, each message is a reminder of the special moments shared here.

I hope this gives you a little glimpse into the experiences that await at Tyddyn Sydney Bach. William and I would be delighted to welcome you and help create lasting memories for you too.

Best wishes,

Les

Spotless, High Quality Stay!

I may have stayed in this holiday cottage over 2 years ago, but I can still remember the high quality stunning cottage perfectly.
I had two 'long term' stays at Tyddyn Syndey Bach whilst completing my PGCE course at Bangor University.
The location was perfect as it was a 5 minute drive to the University and the cottage is in a stunning garden round the back of the owners house.
The owners were very friendly and, as they lived on-site, were always willing to help if any issues arose.
They have fantastic knowledge of the area and were always willing to recommend interesting places to visit.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this holiday cottage to anybody!

Disappointing Stay

Nice, clean, well equipped small studio cottage. Owner is completely over the top about the place, we simply could not relax the whole three nights we were there. We were told not to touch the heating control computer as it was a £1000 worth of equipment, so of course we didn't. The first two nights the heating did not come on so we had to contact owner, also no wifi on second night. We were frightened to touch anything. Owner is far too precious about the cottage, makes you feel like she doesn't really want anybody to stay in it. Never been so glad to leave a place. It was a total waste of money for us. Would not recommend if you are going away for a chill out.

Tyddyn Sydney Bach’s Reply :- I am very sorry that you did not enjoy your three-day break. We have been letting out the cottage for 15 years and in all that time there have only been a tiny number of problems. The vast majority of guests have thoroughly enjoyed their stay and many return.I am disappointed that you felt the heating was not on despite the Far-infrared heating panels thermostat being set at 24 C, the towel radiator and underfloor being at 21C, with a fan heater and throws being available to you. Especially as you told me that the cottage was lovely and warm on your arrival and when you returned from your walks. I live on the grounds so I was happy to respond to you immediately on the several occasions you called on me from the first evening, as I had invited you to when I showed you around the cottage.I am sorry that the internet went down one evening. Unfortunately, this was due to an outage which affected the whole area and was totally beyond our control.I do everything in my power to make our guests feel welcome and comfortable. So when you asked if you could check in four hours before the agreed time, I agreed willingly. When you left the dishes, pans and kitchen dirty I did not ask for cleaning costs (as other holiday cottage landlords would do routinely.) We enjoy greeting our new guests who frequently leave as friends and welcoming returning guests as our reviews will testify.

Perfect Little Jewel Box

Booked for my husband and I - we were visiting our son who is studying in Bangor for a semester. The cottage was perfect - pristinely clean, great location and many extras as others have mentioned such as Welsh Cakes and fresh flowers present on arrival. Les and William were wonderful, made us feel like friends. For anyone concerned the road noise is very minimal - I had wondered about it prior to arrival but we were not bothered at all.

Super Little Cottage

This is a small but really well equipped cottage and Les and William were excellent hosts with so much knowledge about the local area and they made every effort to make me feel welcome. It really is a place to return to.

Ideal Place to Stay

I booked this cottage because the location was ideal for the places we wanted to visit without having to travel too far. The cottage was perfect. It was so comfortable and very well equipped. Les the owner had obviously put a great deal of thought into equipping the cottage and it really felt like a home from home. We were greeted by Les on our arrival and she made us feel so welcome and she then let us into the cottage where she had provided welsh cakes and butter along with muesli for our breakfast and a beautiful vase of roses. We so enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

Very Comfortable and Thoughtfully Appointed Cottage

Very comfortable and thoughtfully appointed cottage in a lovely setting.  Despite the weather, we have had a great week exploring an area we have never got to before.  Bodnant Garden was the highlight - it didn't rain until the evening!  Big bath rowels - Hurrah!

What an Amazing Wee Nook!

Les welcomed us early Saturday afternoon and proceeded to give us the most usefully comprehensive introductory show-around of Tyddyn Sydney Bach.  Within an hour of arrival we were graced with the welcome of a pheasant and a jay.  In the days since we've heard song thrush, siskins, blackcap and all the usual feathered thugs of the garden.  During our stay we've visited Menai Strait, Isle of Anglesey  (a red squirrel stronghold), Llandudno, Portmeirion and Bethesda (for ZipWorld Velocity!).  Only one day was shortened due to it dinging-it-doon (raining)  but we managed to complete the dune walk near Newborough  to Llanddwyn beach (Anglesey) with our getting soaked.  Thanks for your hospitality and enjoy Summer 2024!

Gem of a Cottage Set in Beautiful Grounds

Tyddyn Sydney Bach is a gem of a cottage set in beautiful grounds.  Les is a first class host, always available when needed - thank you.  Clean and comfortable, we look forward to returning.  Hopefully to explore the gardens in better weather and visit more of the wonderful area.  Ticked off walk at Aber Falls, Penrhyn Castle, Plas Mawr at Conwy, Bodnant Gardens, spectacular end of October and Plas Newydd.

Lovely Cottage and Beautiful Gardens

A lovely cottage and a very warm welcome.  The flowers and Welsh cakes were much appreciated as were the tea, coffee etc.  Lovely Spot and beautiful gardens, and not too far from anything.  Thank you!
